Creating a live and consistent approach to leadership in a changing environment

A leading broadcaster recognised that rapid de-regulation, increasing competition and convergent technologies were placing new demands on its staff throughout the organisation.

We were therefore asked to support a major division in the development of new leadership approaches geared to meeting both the current and future needs of the organisation.

Via the facilitation of a series of highly interactive and participative workshops, we took managers and supervisors from across the organisation though a series of structured processes designed to create and live a consistent approach to leadership. This approach was to be based upon clear values guiding behaviours and clear business goals guiding actions.

The initiatives were aimed at exploiting the skills resident, but often latent, within the organisation and focused on improving cross-departmental or functional working. The initiatives also encouraged managers to consider how it would feel to be a competitor and what they might do.

The initiatives were constantly integrated and re-aligned with other internal communication, appraisal, and performance management systems. The activities were then successfully re-absorbed by the leadership groups across the organisation who were supported as required by on-going coaching, facilitation and mentoring.
